Notes
The area you want to detour around must contain an intersection for this feature to work.
Detour areas are saved with your map. When you clear a route containing detour areas, the detour areas remain.
You can designate a detour area before or after you create a route. If your route already exists when you create the detour area, click Get Directions on the Route menu to recalculate your route around the detour area. If you have not yet generated directions, MapPoint will automatically accommodate any detour areas when you do.
Tips
To distinguish detour areas from other areas on your map, you can use drawing tools to change their appearance.
You can move or resize a detour area by clicking its border and then dragging the sizing handles.
You can avoid driving on certain types of roads by setting road-type preferences to Dislike.
