Troubleshoot working with the map and window

I can't send e-mail using the Send Map Feedback feature.

If you are having problems sending your feedback report in e-mail automatically, it could be that you are using an e-mail program that is not MAPI-compatible. If this is the case, you can still send your feedback in e-mail by saving the report when prompted, and then attaching the saved report to an e-mail message and sending it to gmmer@microsoft.com.

If you dont have e-mail, you can mail a copy of the report instead. Clear the E-mail your feedback check box, and print your report by selecting the Print your feedback check box. The mailing address appears in the printed report.

My map doesn't show enough detail.

If your map is not showing enough detail, you might need to check your screen resolution settings. Increasing the screen resolution will provide more map detail both on the screen and in print.

To adjust the screen resolution

  1. Click the Start button Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display, and then click the Settings tab.
  3. Under Screen Area, adjust the settings, and then click Apply.

Note  You may need to reduce Screen area to accommodate the minimum 256 Colors.

My map flickers.

If your map flickers, then your color settings might be set too low. The minimum color setting is 256 Colors; higher color settings will give you optimal results. For best results, your color settings should be set at the highest level supported by your monitor.

To adjust the color settings in Windows, do the following:

  1. Click the Start button Start button, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Double-click Display, and then click the Settings tab.
  3. Under Colors, select the highest setting your monitor supports, and then click Apply.

Notes

You may be prompted to restart your computer to apply the new color settings.

You may need to reduce the Screen area setting to accommodate a higher color setting.

I can't undo my last action.

In MapPoint, there are a few commands that cannot be reversed by clicking Undo Undo button. See About Undo/Redo for a list of actions that cannot be undone. Some of the actions listed will even render previous actions irreversible.

If the action that you last performed is indeed a reversible command but Undo doesn't work, make sure that you haven't been mistakenly clicking Back Back button to reverse the action.

Your computer may not have enough system resources for MapPoint to track the list of actions, in which case Undo will not be available.

Tip  If you saved your map before making the change you now wish to undo, you can close the map without saving the very latest changes and then reopen it. Note that you will also lose all other changes made since you last saved the map.
