Work with task panes
Task panes appear in the left side of the MapPoint window. You can use them to perform different activities, such as creating routes, creating territories, and finding nearby places.
Use the Route Planner pane
You can use the Route Planner to design your route. You can set route options (such as types of roads, scheduled rest stops, your average driving speed, the average length of your driving day, and so on); search for stops; and reorder, schedule, and delete stops. MapPoint will calculate your route and display it on the map, either in the order you have the stops listed in the Route Planner when you click Get Directions, or by reordering your intermediate stops in the most time-efficient way when you click Optimize Stops.
Note When you click a stop on the Route Planner, that stop appears centered on the map.

Use the Find Nearby Places pane
The Find Nearby Places pane displays a list of restaurants and other places that are located near a designated point on the map. You can control what categories of restaurants and places are searched for, as well as the radius of the search area, such as a certain distance around a point you select on the map, or around your route. You can also sort the resulting list alphabetically or by distance.
Tip When you click a place name in the Find Nearby Places pane, that restaurant or place is selected on the map.
