Change a custom symbol

After you've created a custom symbol, you can change its background transparency or rename the custom symbol.

Change the background transparency of a custom symbol

Custom symbols have a transparent background by default. The top-left pixel of the custom symbol is used for the transparent background.

  1. On the Standard toolbar, click the arrow next to Create pushpin Gg649937.ALLcreatepushpin(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

  2. Right-click the custom symbol that has the background you want to change.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • To give the symbol a solid background, click Transparency to clear the check mark.

    • To give the symbol a transparent background, click Transparency to add a check mark (if one isn't there already).

Note   When you change the transparent background for a custom symbol, all pushpins with that symbol are changed.

Rename a custom symbol

By default, when you import a custom symbol, it is given the same name as its file name. This name is used for the tooltip.

  1. On the Standard toolbar, click the arrow next to Create pushpin Gg649937.ALLcreatepushpin(en-us,MSDN.10).jpg.

  2. Right-click the custom symbol that has the name you want to change.

  3. Click Rename.

  4. In the New name box, type a new name for the custom symbol.

  5. Click OK.
