How to: Save Work Item Queries
You can save a query to a folder location to share with other users if you have permission to do so. These are called Team Queries. If you want to save queries for your own use, save them in the My Queries folder.
Required Permissions
To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Readers group or have the View work items in this node permission set to Allow. To save a query as a team query, you must be a member of the Project Administrators group. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.
To save an existing work item query
- To save an open, existing work item query, on the File menu, click Save <query name> [Query].
To save a new work item query
Add a new work item query. For more information, see How to: Add New Work Item Queries.
On the File menu, click Save New Query <query number> [Query].
In the Save Query As dialog box, under Name, type a name for your query.
Under Select the query type and save location, choose where you want to save the query:
To allow your query to be used by other team members, select Team query (visible to everyone). Also, select the team project in the Team project box.
Note
To save your query as a team query, you must be a member of the Project Administrators group.
To save your query to your private query folder, select My query (only visible to me), and then select which team project that you want to store the query in.
To save your query to a file that you can send in e-mail, select File, and then enter the folder and file name where you want to save the file. Team Foundation saves the query with the .wiq file name extension.
Click Save.
To save an existing query with a new name or location
Open an existing query.
On the File menu, click Save <query name> [Query] As.
In the Save Query As dialog box, under Name, type a new name for your query.
Under Select the query type and save location, choose where you want to save the query:
