How to: Create Logical Datacenter Diagrams
In Visual Studio Team Edition for Architects, you can create a logical representation of your datacenter using a logical datacenter diagram. On the diagram, you can model the layout of zones and logical servers within the datacenter, and define communication pathways and protocols between zones and servers. Using the Settings and Constraints Editor, you can also specify requirements on applications being hosted within the datacenter.
Use the following procedure to create a new logical datacenter diagram with a blank Visual Studio solution.
To create a new logical datacenter diagram
On the File menu, point to New, and choose Project.
In the New Project dialog box under Project Types, point to Distributed System Solutions.
Under Templates, choose Logical Datacenter.
Specify a name and location to save your work and click OK.
A blank logical datacenter diagram appears in Logical Datacenter Designer. In Solution Explorer, the diagram appears in the Solution Items folder with an .ldd extension. The document tab at the top of the diagram displays the diagram name and an abbreviation representing the designer.
You can also add blank or existing logical datacenter diagrams to existing solutions. Your solution can contain multiple logical datacenter diagrams. For more information, see How to: Add Logical Datacenter Diagrams to Solutions.
