How to: Resolve Work Items

Note

This topic is based on the work item transitions available in the bug work item for MSF for Agile Software Development. States are specific to work item types. Therefore, if your project is using a different methodology, your work item states may be different. MSF for Agile Software Development is one of the process guidance templates that are included with Team Foundation. For more information, see Finding and Using Process Guidance.

When everything that is required to address a work item is completed, or when you or your team has decided not to work on a work item for the current release, you resolve the work item. Resolving a work item automatically assigns the work item back to the person who opened the work item, so they can verify that the work item was resolved to their satisfaction and then close it.

Required Permissions

To perform these procedures, you must be a member of the Contributors group or have the View work items in this node, and Edit work items in this node permissions set to Allow. For more information, see Team Foundation Server Permissions.
