Migration from Crystal Reports Developer to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio is not recommended.

Crystal Reports Developer is includes a more complete feature set and is the intended upgrade path from the version of Crystal Reports that is bundled with Visual Studio. While it is feasible to migrate an application created with Crystal Reports Developer to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio, it is not recommended because features that you have implemented with Crystal Reports Developer may no longer be available.

Features that may be lost by migrating from Crystal Reports Developer to Crystal Reports for Visual Studio include the following:

  • Histogram charts.
  • OLAP data sources.
  • Enterprise and other additional data drivers.
  • Customizable templates.
  • Access to the repository.
  • Microsoft Add-Ins to create reports directly from within Microsoft Access or Excel.
  • Offloading of reporting to an external reporting process.
  • Dynamic Cascading Parameters.
