First Function (Visual Studio Report Designer)
Returns the first value of the specified expression.
First(Expression, Scope)
Parameters
- Expression
(Variant or Binary) The expression on which to perform the aggregation. The expression cannot contain aggregate functions.
- Scope
(String) The name of a data table, object, grouping, or data region that contains the report items to which to apply the aggregate function. If Scope is specified, the aggregate function applies to all data in the data source, grouping, or data region. Return Type
Determined by the type of expression.
Remarks
The First function returns a value after all sorting has been applied to the data.
Example
The following code example returns the first product number in the Category grouping or data region:
First(Fields!ProductNumber.Value, "Category")
