Channel Object
The Channel object lets you, as a member of a conference, transfer data from the local computer to those of other conference participants. Methods on the INmChannel interface allow you to control those aspects of data exchange that are common to all channel communications. Click anywhere within the following figure to see a detailed description and diagram. Click the interface name to see its corresponding reference page.
Different types of data require different kinds of processing. For example, many software algorithms exist to compress and decompress video information in order to reduce the bandwidth demand for video conferencing. NetMeeting 3 supports the following distinct channel types.
Types of Channel Communications | Description |
---|---|
Audio | Audio data: what you hear over your speakers or headphones. |
Application Sharing | Sharable applications. |
Data | Data specific to your application. |
File Transfer | File-transfer data: file and meta-file data. |
Video | Video data: what you see in the video window part of the NetMeeting user interface (UI). |
