Authorization

Authorization is the process of granting or denying content access to authenticated users. When you connect a cache proxy server between a client and an origin server, both servers must be able to authorize client access. Further, the cache proxy server must be able to relay credential request from the origin server to the client and credentials from the client to the origin. The following authentication plug-ins are included with Windows Media Services.

Plug-in Description
WMS IP Address Authorization Enables you to specify content access permissions for specific IP addresses.
WMS NTFS ACL Authorization Enables you to specify content access permissions for files and folders in an NTFS file system.
WMS Publishing Points ACL Authorization Enables you to specify content access permissions for specific users, servers, or groups, for either all publishing points or a specific publishing point.
