How to Enable Security for the Event Notification Sample
By default, Windows Media Services runs under the Network Service account, a predefined local account that has minimum privileges on the local computer. Because the WMS SDK Sample Context plug-in can both read from and write to a log file, you must add Network Service to the folder access list and specify read and write access. The necessary steps are:
- Create a folder in which the log file can be saved.
- Right-click the folder and click Properties.
- Click the Security tab.
- Click Add.
- Click Locations, click the top node identifying the local computer, and click OK.
- Click Advanced.
- Click Find Now.
- On the list, click Network Service, click OK, and click OK again.
- Make certain that both read and write access are enabled in the list of permissions that can be granted to the Network Service account.
