Using WMI Events to Identify Errors

You can use Windows Media Instrumentation (WMI) to receive plug-in error events. To indicate that an authentication or authorization plug-in has failed and that the server has stopped accepting new connections or has stopped allowing connected clients to request content, the server raises either the WMS_Server_Event Class or WMS_Publishing_Point_Event Class events with a subevent of CriticalError. To indicate that a general plug-in error has occurred, the server raises the WMS_Plugin_Event Class event with a subevent of Error. For more information about these event notices and their subevents, see External Events. Windows Media Services includes the WMS WMI Event Handler Plug-in to capture WMI events.
