MSVidWebDVDAdm.SaveParentalLevel Method

This topic applies to Windows XP Service Pack 1 or later.

The SaveParentalLevel method saves a new default parental level to the registry.

Syntax

  VidWebDVDAdm
  .SaveParentalLevel(
  lLevel As Long,
  strUserName As String,
  strPassword As String
)

Parameters

lLevel

Indicates the new default parental level, from 1 through 8.

strUserName

Specifies the user name. This parameter is not currently used, so use an empty string ("").

strPassword

Specifies a password.

Return Values

This method does not return a value.

Error Codes

If the property fails, Err.Number may be set to one of the following values.

Value Description
E_UNEXPECTED Unspecified error.
E_INVALIDARG Level less than 1 or greater than 8 entered.
E_ACCESSDENIED Invalid password or permissions to change the country/region.

Remarks

This method enables a user who knows the current password to save a new parental level setting to the registry. As with all the methods of MSVidWebDVDAdm, this method does not affect the current level in the player; it changes only the registry setting, so that the next time the MSVidWebDVD object is started, it will open with the new level. Specify -1 to disable parental management. To change the parental level in the player, call MSVidWebDVD.SelectParentalLevel, which does not change the registry setting. See PlayerParentalLevel for more information on parental levels.

Example

  oVidWebDVDAdm
  .SaveParentalLevel(
  lLevel
  , "", strPassword)
