Entering Data in a Segment Track

Data that can be inserted into tracks might consist of a file, a DirectMusic Producer component, musical notes, text, a script command, or an instruction such as a tempo mark or chord.

You can use any of the following methods to enter data:

  • Click a track at the point where you want the data to be entered and press the INSERT key.
  • Click a track at the point where you want the data to be entered and copy data from the Clipboard using shortcut keys.
  • Right-click a track at the point where you want the data to be entered. On the shortcut menu, click Insert or Paste.
  • Drag data from elsewhere while pressing CTRL. A copy is made where you release the mouse.
  • Drag a component from the project tree onto an appropriate track. For example, you can drag a wave from the project tree onto a wave track.

When you insert some kinds of data by clicking Insert or the INSERT key, a Properties Window for the item is displayed so that you can enter initial properties. You can always change properties later.
