Hide the \"Add programs from Microsoft\" option

Description

Removes the Add programs from Microsoft section from the Add New Programs page. This policy prevents users from using Add/Remove Programs to connect to Windows Update.

If you disable this policy or do not configure it, Add programs from Microsoft is available to all users.

This policy does not prevent users from using other tools and methods to connect to Windows Update.

If the Hide Add New Programs page policy is enabled, this policy is ignored.

The Disable and remove links to Windows Update policy does not remove the Windows Update button in the Add programs from Microsoft section. However, if users click the button, the system displays a message explaining that the action is prevented by a policy.
