Geopolitical Readiness

Geopolitical readiness is the process of evaluating an application design in relation to the expectations, needs, and rules of other locales.

The process should be completed first for devices that ship in worldwide English (WWE) for the following reasons:

  • Issues such as text input and sorting that require code changes must be handled early in the development process.
  • WWE devices are used worldwide.

Use the following checklist to confirm that an application meets geopolitical readiness requirements:

  • Does not use geopolitically sensitive terms.
  • Contains only sounds that have been reviewed for geopolitical issues.
  • Contains only maps that have been checked for geopolitical issues such as border disputes and ownership conflicts.
  • Contains only flags that have been checked for geopolitical issues such as offensive or incorrect content.
  • Contains only clip art, images, or symbols that have been checked for geopolitical issues such as offensive language or hand gestures.
