PatchEdge Enumeration (Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D)

Defines whether the current tessellation mode is discrete or continuous.

Definition

Visual Basic Public Enum PatchEdge
C# public enum PatchEdge
C++ public enum class PatchEdge
JScript public enum PatchEdge

Members

Member Value Description
Continuous 1 Continuous edge style. Tessellation is specified as float values, which can be varied smoothly to reduce popping artifacts.
Discrete 0 Discrete edge style. Tessellation can be specified as float values, but they will be truncated to integers.

Remarks

Continuous and discrete tessellation produce completely different patterns for the same tessellation values; for example, 4.0 continuous is not the same as 4 discrete. This difference is more apparent in wireframe mode than when rendering fully textured or color-filled scenes.
