GetExitCodeThread

This function retrieves the termination status of the specified thread.

BOOL GetExitCodeThread( 
HANDLE hThread, 
LPDWORD lpExitCode); 

Parameters

  • hThread
    Handle to the thread.
  • lpExitCode
    Pointer to a 32-bit variable to receive the thread termination status.

Return Values

Nonzero indicates success. Zero indicates failure. To get extended error information, call GetLastError.

Remarks

If the specified thread has not terminated, the termination status returned is STILL_ACTIVE. If the thread has terminated, the termination status returned may be one of the following:

  • The exit value specified in the ExitThread or TerminateThread function.
  • The return value from the thread function.
  • The exit value of the thread's process.

Windows CE OS 1.01 and later Winbase.h   Coredll.lib, Nk.lib

Note   This API is part of the complete Windows CE OS package as provided by Microsoft. The functionality of a particular platform is determined by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) and some devices may not support this API.
