Install the Sample Business Rules Engine Policies and Vocabularies

If you installed the Microsoft ESB Guidance core from the Windows Installer file named Microsoft.Practices.ESB.Core.msi, you must install the Business Rules Engine (BRE) policies and vocabularies that specifically refer to the Microsoft ESB Guidance core signed assemblies into the GlobalBank.ESB application.

To install the GlobalBank.ESB policies and vocabularies from a pre-packaged .msi file

  1. Click Run on the Start menu to open a command prompt.

  2. Execute the following command, replacing the <path> parameter with the full path to the .msi file you want to install. The default path and name in this release is C:\Program Files\Microsoft ESB Guidance 1.0 - November 2007.

    BTSTask.exe ImportApp -Package:"<path>\GlobalBank.ESB.Policies.msi" /ApplicationName:GlobalBank.ESB

The Windows Installer file GlobalBank.ESB.Policies.msi installs Business Rules Engine policies and vocabularies that specifically refer to the Microsoft ESB Guidance core signed assemblies. Several of the Microsoft ESB Guidance sample applications refer to these policies and vocabularies including:

  • The Scatter-Gather Sample
  • The Dynamic Resolution Sample
  • The Resolver Service Sample

The GlobalBank.ESB.Policies.msi creates the GlobalBank.ESB BizTalk application and deploys the BizTalk Rules Engine policies and vocabularies shown in the following table.
