Logon Permissions for the Computer Running Speech Server

When Speech Server is installed, the setup program automatically configures the access rights of users that log on to the computer. Access rights for each user are based on the user's membership in the appropriate security groups. The Speech Server setup program configures access rights for security groups based on the operating system of the target computer.

For target computers running Windows XP or Windows Vista, full access rights are granted to users in the Interactive Users and the Administrators security groups. This is done to support an environment in which Speech Server is installed on a computer that can provide multiple functions for users, such as developing applications, using e-mail, and writing documents. Users of these computers cannot be members of the Administrators group, but still require full interactive control on the system.

For target computers running Windows Server 2003, full access rights are only granted to users in the Administrators security group. This is done to support a more protected production environment in which the computer should not be vulnerable to excessive interactive activity.
