Remarks

The ISynthesizer interface is primarily intended to create the Synthesizer object on an application's TelephonySession. All examples of ISynthesizer functionality in this document use the TelephonySessionSynthesizer object.

ISynthesizer has an asynchronous speak method that starts playback of the specified prompt. The speak method fails if it is invoked while playback is already in progress. ISynthesizer has asynchronous methods for pausing playback and resuming playback. The ISynthesizer also supports skipping forwards or backwards through the output audio stream and has a number of properties for controlling the volume, rate, and voice. Language selection is done through the SSML encapsulated in the prompt.

Synthesizer, SpeechRecognizer, and Recorder objects are initialized with the CurrentUICulture value of their parent TelephonySession object. This value must match the SrgsDocument.Culture property of the application's grammars.
