How to: Select the Language for a Prompt Project

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

Prompt projects in Speech Server solutions support any of the installed languages. Selecting a language in the Voice Response Workflow Application Project Wizard specifies the language for the initial prompt project. For more information, see How to: Create a Voice Response Application.

There are two likely scenarios where an author might want to specify a language for a prompt project other than the language set in the Voice Response Workflow Application Project Wizard:

  • An author might be working on a stand-alone prompt project. In this case, there is no speech application. Because the Voice Response Workflow Application Project Wizard is not used, the language of Visual Studio 2005 determines the default language setting for the prompt project. If the author wants to create a French (Canada) prompt project using a English (United States) version of Visual Studio 2005, the author must manually set the language for the prompt project by using the following procedure.
  • An author might be working on a multi-language solution. Speech Server supports multiple language prompt databases in one solution, but they must be in separate prompt projects. In this case, the user must manually set the prompt project language with the following procedure.

Specifying the Language for a Prompt Project

  1. In Solution Explorer, right-click the prompt project, and then click Properties.
