Speech Prompt Editor can export and import .wav files from a prompt database. Speech Prompt Editor can also be used to export a .wav file, modify it, and then import the modified file back into the prompt database.

Exporting a .wav File

To export .wav files

  1. In Speech Prompt Editor, open a prompt database.

For more information, see How to: Open a Prompt Database.

  2. In the prompt database, select the records containing .wav files to export.

  3. On the Prompt menu, click Export Wave.

  4. Select the destination folder:

    • For a single .wav file, select the destination folder in the Export Wave File dialog box, and then click OK.
    • For multiple .wav files, select the destination folder in the Wave File Folder dialog box, and then click OK.

Importing a .wav File

To import .wav files

  1. In Speech Prompt Editor, open a prompt database.

For more information, see How to: Open a Prompt Database.

  2. In the prompt database, select the records containing .wav files to import.

  3. On the Prompt menu, click Import Wave.

  4. Select the destination folder:

    • For a single .wav file, select the source file in the Import Wave File dialog box, and then click OK.
    • For multiple .wav files, select the source folder in the Wave File Folder dialog box, and then click OK.

The Date column in the prompt database is updated with new date/time information when a .wav file is imported. Right-click a prompt database column heading to select which database columns are displayed.

When importing a single .wav file, the selected .wav file name in the prompts database is not changed, regardless of the name of the import file. When importing multiple .wav files, Speech Prompt Editor imports files that match the file names of the .wav files selected in the prompts database.

Alignment data in the imported .wav files is preserved. If alignment data in the imported file differs from the target file, Speech Prompt Editor overwrites the alignment data in the target file with the alignment data in the import file.
