Adding the Address Type to a Recipient Policy

This content is no longer actively maintained. It is provided as is, for anyone who may still be using these technologies, with no warranties or claims of accuracy with regard to the most recent product version or service release.

After you have specified a new address type for a sample gateway, you can initiate address creation for all recipients in the system by adding this address type to a new or existing recipient policy. The recipient policy will use the proxy generation dynamic-link library (DLL) specified in the address type to generate the addresses.

To add an address type to a recipient policy

  1. Start the Exchange System Manager and expand the Recipients node in the left pane.
  2. Right-click the Recipient Policies node if you want to first add a new recipient policy.
  3. Expand the Recipient Policies node.
  4. In the right pane, double-click the recipient policy that you want to modify. The Properties page for that recipient policy will be displayed.
  5. Click the E-Mail Addresses tab. A list of all the address types available to this recipient policy will be displayed. The address types that the recipient policy actually supports will be checked.
  6. To add the new address type, click the New button located below the box.
  7. Select Custom Address and click OK. The Custom Address Properties dialog box will be displayed. Type in the requested information for the address type. Click OK to close the page.
