Microsoft® Exchange Server 2007 uses the following networking foundations of the underlying Microsoft Windows Server® operating systems:

  • Network Device Interface Services (NDIS)
  • The TCP/IP stack.

Exchange 2007 also uses the remote procedure call (RPC) interface to communicate with MAPI clients.
