Locating Access Runtime Files

When you use the Packaging Wizard to include the Microsoft Access Runtime in your application, a message prompts you to locate the Access Runtime files if the wizard cannot find the files.

The Access Runtime is not installed to your computer as part of the Microsoft Office Developer setup. Instead, you can use the Packaging Wizard to copy the files from the Microsoft Office CD.

The first time you run the Packaging Wizard and include the Access Runtime in your package, you will be prompted to locate the files. You will be prompted to locate the files for any packages you create in additional languages as well. When the correct files have been copied to your computer, you will not be prompted to locate the files by the Packaging Wizard.

Note that the Access Runtime components are available for all of the different languages that Office is available in. To use the localized version of the Access Runtime, simply point the Packaging Wizard to a folder containing the localized version.

To include the Access Runtime file in your package

  1. Use the Packaging Wizard to package an Access application.

  2. Add the Access Runtime to your application. For details, see Deploying Microsoft Access Applications using the Access Runtime.

  3. Complete the wizard, including selecting a location for the package.

  4. When prompted to locate the Access Runtime files, if you have already copied the Access Runtime files for the languages selected on the Access Runtime screen of the Packaging Wizard, select Browse and locate the folder that contains the files.

    Note   To identify a network location, you can copy and past the network path into the path field.

  5. To create a new set of Access Runtime components on your computer, select Create New.

  6. Identify a folder where you would like to save the Access Runtime components.

  7. Insert Microsoft Office XP CD 1, and select the drive in the tree view.

    Note   The Access Runtime files are stored on the Microsoft Office XP CD, not the Microsoft Office XP Developer CD. In addition, you must use the Office XP CD that corresponds with the language you selected on the Access Runtime screen of the Packaging Wizard.

The Packaging Wizard copies the necessary files from the Office XP CD to your computer. The Access Runtime files are then included in your package.
