Search Tab, Database Window (Code Librarian)

Use the Search tab to specify search criteria for finding source code in the open code database. The search engine limits the search based on the selection you make in the Search Options area. The default is to search the titles and the descriptions.

****Tip   ****To easily insert the selected code snippet into your code module, use the Toolbar or right-click and select the Insert in Module or Copy to Clipboard options.

Options

Type in the word(s) to search for

Enter the text string to search for. Instead of typing a search string, you can also use the predefined filter options:

  • No Categories and Keywords Associated

  • No Categories Associated

  • No Keywords Associated

You can use these options to make sure your code library has adequate search categories and keywords for all of your source code.

Boolean

If desired, select a Boolean operator (AND, OR, and NOT) from the list to define your search. The operator is inserted at the cursor in the text box.

Search

Begins the search through the Code Librarian.

Search Options

The default search includes both the title and the description field for all code snippets.

  • **Search titles only   **Limits the search to just titles or names of the code snippets.

  • **Search through code   **Includes the code in the search. Select this option to search for the specified text string in every line of source code.

Code

Lists the name of the available source code snippets associated with the category selected. You can double-click the code name to display and edit the source code. The icon next to the code snippet name indicates the type of code. To sort the list alphabetically by name, click Code.

Type

Specifies the type of source code (such as code snippet, function, module, or class module) for each source code name. This is property is set on the Description tab. To sort the list alphabetically by code type, click Type.

Description

Specifies the parameters, return codes, and general descriptions of the selected source code. This information is found on the Description tab. To see more of the description pane, use the scroll bars.
