About the Time dimension

The predefined Time dimension is a system dimension for maintaining a common time scale in an application. Automatically included with every model, the Time dimension is created and maintained by the Application Calendar Wizard. The Time dimension typically contains thousands of members, depending on the range and level of detail (quarter, month, day, and so on) that you define for the calendar. Each individual time hierarchy is created as a member view.

Note

You cannot make changes to the Time dimension directly. Instead, to change values in the Time dimension, modify the Application Calendar. For more information, see About the application calendar.

Dimension member properties

The Application Calendar Wizard generates member properties for Time dimension members. The properties describe the structure of the calendar. For example, the wizard generates properties such as Fiscal Year, Month Label, and WEEK_DAY.

The specific properties that the wizard generates depend on the level of detail, or granularity, of the calendar. For example, if you include quarter periods, the wizard generates related properties such as Fiscal Quarter.

You cannot update predefined member properties.
