Common SharePoint Web Part and Field Control Customization Tasks (ECM)
Applies to: SharePoint Server 2010
This section contains detailed, step-by-step procedures for common Web Part customization and field control customization tasks.
The Content By Query Web Part (CQWP) is a popular Web Part in Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, used in many custom scenarios and applications. In Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, the CQWP supports filtering over managed terms, mapping data to views, and the ability to add content on pages other than the one where the CQWP is located. Additionally, the performance of the CQWP is improved. It is integrated with, and supports, managed term fields introduced in the Managing Enterprise Metadata in SharePoint Server 2010 (ECM) feature set. It also supports dynamic scenarios based on a field of the current page or a query string parameter.
