Creating a Workspace
A SharePoint Portal Server workspace provides access to document libraries, content sources (databases, file shares, and Web sites), categories, document profiles, subscriptions, and discussions on the server through a Web folder. In addition, the workspace stores Web Parts and other dashboard site content. The workspace can be accessed through Microsoft® Windows® Explorer using Web folders or My Network Places, or through the dashboard site using a Web browser.
In addition, SharePoint Portal Server Web folders provide special folders that enable coordinators to manage information on the server by adding and managing content sources. These folders include an index of content available from the workspace. Web folders also enrich document profiles so that authors can define their documents by using metadata.
Use the KnowledgeServer object to create a new workspace or to enumerate workspaces on the server. Existing workspaces can be accessed by creating a KnowledgeWorkspace object and then using the DataSource.Open method.
