Applies to: Exchange Server 2007

Use the Completion page to confirm whether the new transport rule was created successfully. Click Finish to complete the New Transport Rule wizard.

A status of Completed indicates that the wizard completed the task successfully. A status of Failed indicates that the task was not completed. If the task fails, review the summary for an explanation, and then click Back to make any configuration changes.

For more information about how to make configuration changes to a transport rule, see How to Modify a Transport Rule.

The summary pane lists the following fields:

  • Management Shell command
This field lists the Exchange Management Shell command that was used to create the new transport rule. If the task is successful, this text is displayed as Management Shell command completed. If the task fails, this text is displayed as Management Shell command attempted.

For more information about the New-TransportRule cmdlet, see New-TransportRule (RTM).

For more information about the Exchange Management Shell, see Using the Exchange Management Shell.

  • Elapsed Time
This field indicates the amount of time it took for the wizard to complete the task. If the elapsed time is 00:00:00, this indicates that the task took less than 1 second to complete.

Note

You can press CTRL+C to copy the text in the summary pane to the Clipboard. After the text has been copied to the Clipboard, you can paste it into a document or screen.

After the transport rule is created, we recommend that you perform the following tasks:

  • If the new transport rule was created on a Hub Transport server, verify that the transport rule has been replicated to all the Hub Transport servers in your organization. Replication of transport rule changes depends on Active Directory replication, so the time that is required for transport rule replication depends on your configuration and topology. A new log entry is created on each Hub Transport server every time that the transport rule configuration is updated.

For more information, see Understanding How Transport Rules Are Applied in an Exchange 2007 Organization.

  • If the new transport rule was created on an Edge Transport server, it isn't automatically replicated to other Edge Transport servers. If you want to apply the same transport rules to all your Edge Transport servers, you can use the Export-TransportRuleCollection cmdlet and Import-TransportRuleCollection cmdlet.

For more information, see the following topics:

  • After you have verified the new transport rule has been applied, verify that the transport rule works as expected by sending messages that meet the transport rule conditions, and none of the exceptions, and verifying the actions have been applied correctly. You should also send messages that meet none of the conditions, or messages that meet the conditions as well as the exceptions, and verify that the actions have not been applied.
