The Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager monitors the Windows Application log on computers running Exchange 2010 and generates this alert when the events specified in the following Details table are logged.

The Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service (MSExchangeEdgeSync) isn't running.


This Error event indicates that the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service (MSExchangeEdgeSync) is not running.

The Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service replicates data on the Edge Transport server from the Active Directory directory service to the directory service instance of Active Directory Lightweight Directory Services (AD LDS). When MSExchangeEdgeSync is not running, replication cannot occur.

User Action

To resolve this problem, start the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service. To do this, follow these steps.

Start the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service

  1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.

  2. In the Services window, locate the Microsoft Exchange EdgeSync service in the details pane.

  3. Right-click the service, and then click Start.
