End of License for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search
Applies To: Microsoft Search Server 2008
Topic Last Modified: 2011-05-02
In 2008, Microsoft Search Server 2008 replaced Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search. At that time, Microsoft discontinued support for Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search. We recommend that you install one of the following:
Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010
Microsoft Search Server 2010
Microsoft Search Server 2010 Express
Search Server 2008
Microsoft Search Server 2008 Express
Warning
Microsoft does not support installing Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SharePoint Products and Technologies on servers that are running Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search. Installing SP2 for SharePoint Products and Technologies might cause Office SharePoint Server 2007 for Search to be registered incorrectly as a trial version. Instead, we recommend that you do one of the following:
-
Install Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. For information about SharePoint Server 2010, see the Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 Resource Center on TechNet. For information about search in SharePoint Server 2010, see Getting started with enterprise search in SharePoint 2010 Products (white paper).
-
Install Search Server 2010 or Search Server 2010 Express. For information about Search Server 2010, see What’s new in enterprise search (Search Server 2010). For information about installation, see Install Search Server 2010 or Search Server 2010 Express.
-
Install Search Server 2008 or Search Server 2008 Express, and then install SP2 for SharePoint Products and Technologies. For information about supported upgrade paths, see Presentation: Understanding and deploying hotfixes, public updates, and service packs (Search Server 2008).
