Back up and recover site objects (Office SharePoint Server)

In general, we recommend that you back up and recover databases, Web applications, or farms rather than site objects. For information about general backup and recovery for Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, see Back up and restore an entire farm (Office SharePoint Server 2007). However, you might find that you need to back up and recover site objects at the following levels:

  • List or document library

  • List item or document

You might want to back up site objects if you want to consolidate sites that contain only a few key document libraries or lists as part of a migration, or move only specific documents out of a document library when migrating to a new site.
