Resolve
Restart the server or troubleshoot hardware problems
This problem occurs when the Line Printer Remote (LPR) service cannot read or write registry settings. Typically, this is symptomatic of a more significant system problem. LPR may not be correctly configured until the problem is resolved.
Possible resolutions include:
- Notify users, and then restart the print server.
- Use hardware diagnostic utilities, if available, to troubleshoot potential hardware issues with the print device or server hardware.
- Restore the print server from a stable Windows backup.
Verify
To verify that you resolved the problem, print the document again to a shared printer that uses the Line Printer Daemon (LPD) service. This tests printing using the Line Printer Remote (LPR) service on the client computer.
