Setting User Accounts Password Policy
On the Passwords page of Windows® Home Server Settings, you can set the User Accounts Password Policy so that it requires user-account passwords to meet the requirements of the password policy.
Important
Regardless of which password policy you choose, all user accounts with Remote Access enabled require strong passwords. This cannot be changed.
You can configure your User Accounts Password Policy to the following settings:
Medium (default)
The Medium password policy requires passwords to be at least 5 characters long, and it has no complexity requirement.
Weak
The Weak password policy allows passwords of any length (including zero length, or no password), and it has no complexity requirement.
Strong
The Strong password policy requires complex passwords, which are at least 7 characters long. A complex password must contain at least three of the following four character categories:
Uppercase letters
Lowercase letters
Numbers
Symbols (such as !, @, #, etc.)
Changes to the User Accounts Password Policy do not apply to existing user accounts until the passwords are subsequently changed. New user-account passwords must follow the current User Accounts Password Policy.
