RpcList Property

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The RpcList property returns a Microsoft Windows remote procedure call (RPC) protocol list.

Syntax

object
.RpcList [= value]

Parts

  • object
    An expression that evaluates to an object in the Applies To list
  • value
    A SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL-DMO) multistring listing RPC protocols

Data Type

String

Modifiable

Read/write

Prototype (C/C++)

HRESULT GetRpcList(SQLDMO_LPBSTR pRetVal);
HRESULT SetRpcList(SQLDMO_LPCSTR NewValue);

Remarks

The protocol list specifies which Net-Libraries (for example, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, or named pipes) on which SQL Server can listen. RPC protocol increases performance by eliminating much of the parameter processing and statement parsing done on the server.

For more information about setting multistring parameters, see Using SQL-DMO Multistrings.

To set the RpcList property, you must be a member of the sysadmin fixed server role.

Important

Setting the RpcList property changes registry settings, and it should be used with caution.

Note

If an application calls RpcList on an instance of SQL Server version 7.0, the constant, SQLDMO_E_SQL80ONLY, and the message "This property or method requires Microsoft SQL Server 2000 or later" are returned.

Applies To:

Registry2 Object
