PrimaryFilePath Property

This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

The PrimaryFilePath property returns the path and name of the operating system directory that contains the primary file for the referenced database.

Note

SQL Distributed Management Objects (SQL-DMO) strings are always returned as OLE BSTR objects. A C/C++ application obtains a reference to the string. The application must release the reference using SysFreeString.

Remarks

Microsoft SQL Server implements database data storage in one or more OS files. One OS file is designated as the primary file containing database-specific system tables. The primary file can be identified using the PrimaryFile property of the DBFile object.
