The PowerPivot UI in Windows XP

The PowerPivot window differs depending on which version of Windows you are running. In Windows Vista and Windows 7, features are available from the PowerPivot ribbon, which has three tabs: Home, Design, and** Linked Tables**. Windows XP has the same functionality, but the features are available from a set of menus. There is no difference in how PowerPivot features in the Excel window are accessed.

Most of the PowerPivot for Excel Help topics focus on the user interface in Windows Vista and Windows 7; they include information about the ribbon, but not about the menus. This topic shows how the options in the ribbon map to the options in the menus. We recommend that you read Take a Tour of the PowerPivot UI to get an overview of the UI before you read this topic.

The following graphic shows how features in the Home tab relate to features in the Windows XP menus and toolbar. For more information about the Home tab, see PowerPivot Window: Home Tab.
