Client Protocols - VIA Properties (Protocol Tab)

In Microsoft SQL Server Configuration Manager, use the Protocol tab on the VIA Properties dialog box to view or specify the following options for the Virtual Interface Adapter. For more information about connection strings, see Creating a Valid Connection String Using VIA Protocol.

Important

The VIA protocol is deprecated. This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

Options

  • Default NIC
Indicates which Network Interface Card (NIC) the VIA protocol is bound to. NICs are numbered, starting at zero. Computers with only one NIC will indicate 0.

  • Default Server
VIA port that VIA is listening on when accepting connections from VIA clients.

  • Enabled
Possible values are Yes and No.
