How to: Filter the Source Cube for a Mining Structure
In Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services, if you are working with an OLAP mining structure, you can slice the cube that the mining structure is based on. This lets you filter the data that is used to create the mining model.
To slice a cube
In Data Mining Designer in BI Development Studio, select the Mining Structure tab or the Mining Models tab.
On the Mining Model menu, select Define Mining Structure Cube Slice.
The Slice Cube dialog box opens.
In the Dimension column of the Slice Cube dialog box, select the dimension that you want to filter.
Select a hierarchy in the Hierarchy column.
Select an operator in the Operator column.
Click within the box in the Filter column.
A dialog box opens that contains all the members in the specified hierarchy.
Select the member or members on which you want to filter.
Click OK in the member dialog box.
Click OK in the Slice Cube dialog box.
The source cube is now filtered as defined by the cube slice.
