SqlGeometry.STPointN Method

Returns a specified point in a SqlGeometry instance.

Namespace:  Microsoft.SqlServer.Types
Assembly:  Microsoft.SqlServer.Types (in Microsoft.SqlServer.Types.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
<SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic := True, IsPrecise := True)> _
Public Function STPointN ( _
    n As Integer _
) As SqlGeometry
'Usage
Dim instance As SqlGeometry
Dim n As Integer
Dim returnValue As SqlGeometry

returnValue = instance.STPointN(n)
[SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = true)]
public SqlGeometry STPointN(
    int n
)
[SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = true)]
public:
SqlGeometry^ STPointN(
    int n
)
[<SqlMethodAttribute(IsDeterministic = true, IsPrecise = true)>]
member STPointN :
        n:int -> SqlGeometry
public function STPointN(
    n : int
) : SqlGeometry

Parameters

Return Value

Type: Microsoft.SqlServer.Types.SqlGeometry
A SqlGeometry that represents the specified point in the calling instance.

Remarks

If a SqlGeometry instance is user created, STPointN returns the point specified by expression by ordering the points in the order in which they were originally input.

If a SqlGeometry instance was constructed by the system, STPointN returns the point specified by expression by ordering all the points in the same order they would be output: first by geometry, then by ring within the geometry (if appropriate), and then by point within the ring. This order is deterministic.

If this method is called with a value less than 1, it throws an ArgumentOutOfRangeException.

If this method is called with a value greater than the number of points in the instance, it returns null.
