ScriptComponent.AcquireConnections Method

Obtains a connection or connection information by using a connection manager.

Namespace:  Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline
Assembly:  Microsoft.SqlServer.TxScript (in Microsoft.SqlServer.TxScript.dll)

Syntax

'Declaration
Public Overridable Sub AcquireConnections ( _
    Transaction As Object _
)
'Usage
Dim instance As ScriptComponent
Dim Transaction As Object

instance.AcquireConnections(Transaction)
public virtual void AcquireConnections(
    Object Transaction
)
public:
virtual void AcquireConnections(
    Object^ Transaction
)
abstract AcquireConnections :
        Transaction:Object -> unit
override AcquireConnections :
        Transaction:Object -> unit
public function AcquireConnections(
    Transaction : Object
)

Parameters

  • Transaction
    Type: System.Object
    The transaction object to associate with the connection.

Remarks

The Script component developer does not use the ScriptComponent class directly, but indirectly, by coding the methods and properties of the ScriptMain class, which inherits from ScriptComponent through the UserComponent class.

The developer can override the AcquireConnections method in the ScriptMain class to connect to an external data source from a source or destination component.

Examples

The following code sample demonstrates how the Script component developer might obtain a SqlConnection by using the AcquireConnections method. For more information, see Understanding the Script Component Object Model.

    Dim connMgr As IDTSConnectionManager100
    Dim sqlConn As SqlConnection

    Public Overrides Sub AcquireConnections(ByVal Transaction As Object)

        connMgr = Me.Connections.MyADONETConnection
        sqlConn = CType(connMgr.AcquireConnection(Nothing), SqlConnection)

    End Sub
