Model Simulation Adjustments
When simulation adjustments are needed to complete the simulation, System Center Capacity Planner displays a list of the required adjustments. The types of adjustments are divided into the following categories:
- Misconfiguration messages, which occur when you modify a capacity model and do not include information needed for a simulation to successfully run. These are often trivial adjustments that are easily made by updating information in Model Editor. For example, a misconfiguration message appears when a WAN is missing one of two connection endpoints. When all misconfiguration messages have been corrected, the simulation runs successfully.
- Validation messages, which typically occur when a modeled device is over-utilized and cannot handle the demand placed on it; for example, when you modify an existing capacity model by adding additional load to a device. After the issues in all validation messages are corrected, the simulation runs successfully. For more information about how to correct each specific validation issue, see the System Center Capacity Planner Help topic associated with the particular validation message.
These adjustment messages have the following attributes:
- Severity. There are two categories of severity:
- Critical Adjustments required for Capacity Planner to produce simulation results. Some adjustments are severe enough to prevent any further action. In some cases, you can continue working in Capacity Planner to the next verification step, but Capacity Planner will stop afterward.
- Warning Adjustments needed but simulation results are still produced.
- Description. The description of the issue that produced the needed adjustment.
- Help Link. You can click the Help Link icon to open the help topic associated with the necessary corrective action.
