How to Identify Under-Utilized Resources

Perform the following procedure to determine which resources in your Capacity Planner capacity model are under-utilized. For information about how to move an under-utilized resource, see How to Add Capacity by Reallocating Resources.

Once you have identified resources that have little or not utilization, you can move server roles from an under-utilized device and then reallocate the unused resource.

To identify under-utilized resources

  1. In Simulation Results, on the Servers pages look for low utilization percentage to determine which resource is under-utilized.

  2. Click the Utilization column heading to sort the results.

  3. Click the Device column click the list arrow, and then click a device type to filter the results for the device type.

  4. Identify the devices and servers that have little or no utilization.
