How DPM Operations Affect Performance
Published : September 27, 2005
As an administrator, one of your concerns will be the impact of DPM on system and network resources. The primary data transfer operations are:
Replica creation. This occurs once for each protected volume.
Change tracking. This is a continuous process on each protected file server.
Synchronization. This occurs on a regular schedule that you can configure.
Consistency Check. This occurs when a replica becomes inconsistent.
Understanding these operations and DPM processes will help you establish reasonable expectations for DPM performance.
