Using DDRs in Resource Discovery

You can use discovery data records (DDRs) to:

• Update properties of an existing resource instance.
• Add new properties to an existing resource type.
• Create a new resource class.

Note  If your discovery agent is loading resource information from a source such as a database, you should run your process on an Microsoft® Systems Management Server (SMS) site server — this approach reduces the amount of network traffic incurred.
