Opalis System Requirements

Opalis Integration Server 6.3 requires the following hardware and software.

Management Server, Operator Console, and Action Server Requirements

  • Management server and Operator console – 131 MB (install)

  • Operator console – 200 MB (including JBoss)

  • Action server – 50 MB. Policies may use more space when moving files or processing data. Add an appropriate amount of space for the policies that you create.

Operating System
  • Windows Server 2008 (32-bit or 64-bit)

  • Windows Server 2008 R2 (64-bit)

  • Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) Service Pack 2

  • Windows Server 2003 R2 (32-bit) Service Pack 2

Additional Software
  • Windows Installer version 3.1 – Required to install Opalis Integration Server and all components, integration packs, Hotfixes, and product upgrades. (Not required for the Operator console.)

  • Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5, Service Pack 1. By default, .NET Framework 3.5 is not enabled in Windows Server 2008. You enable it in the IIS role. (Not required for the Operator console.)

  • All Windows products must be English-localized editions.

  • We recommend that you run the system in an Active Directory environment.

Database
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or 2008 is required if you want to use Microsoft SQL Server as your Data store database. We recommend that you use an installation of SQL Server that is dedicated to Opalis Integration Server or a cluster of SQL Server computers for production environments. SQL Server Desktop Edition and Express Edition are not supported.

Reports Software Requirements

Component Description

Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0

This software reads from the data store for the information that populates the reports

Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5, Service Pack 1

Install on the same computer Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 to enable Reports functionality. The .NET Web Service Extension must also be enabled.

LogiXML LGX Report

The LogiXML LGX Report software is available on Microsoft System Center Opalis (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=200971). It is used to create and modify reports.

Foundation Object Requirements

The foundation objects are a set of workflow activities that are included with the default Opalis Integration Server installation. Foundation objects have the same minimum requirements as the action servers, with the exception of the objects listed in the following table that have additional requirements:

Send, Read, Filter, and Process Exchange E-mail

Outlook 2000 or greater installed and a Mail profile for the Exchange account configured on any action server computer where the policy will run. The user account that is used to run the action server service must have access to that Mail profile. If policies using these objects fail over to another action server, that computer must also meet these requirements.

Before you use the Exchange email objects:

  • When a profile is created for a user, open Outlook using the user account profile.

  • Open the profile using Outlook on the action server computer using the account that is assigned to the action server service.

Foundation Object Support

Foundation objects run on the action server component. The standard foundation objects are supported for use on all action server supported operating systems. A subset of foundation objects, known as legacy objects, are not supported on the Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 operating systems.

Important

A policy can only be run on an action server that is installed on an operating system supported for use with all of the objects in that policy. If a policy is using any legacy objects, the policy must be running on an action server installed on one of the operating systems supported for use with the legacy objects.

For example, a policy includes a Custom Start object and a Filter Email object (a legacy object). Because the policy contains a legacy object, the action server that runs this policy must be installed on a Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 operating system.

The following table lists the foundation objects included in version 6.3 and their supported operating systems. "X" represents a supported operating system.

Integration Pack Requirements

An integration pack is a set of packaged workflow activities that are installed separately from the Opalis Integration Server components. See the integration pack guide for the system requirements for each integration. Opalis 6.3 integration pack guides are available in the TechNet Library (https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=207117).

Integration Pack Support

Integration pack objects run on the action server component. The System Center integration packs released with Opalis Integration Server 6.3 are supported for use on all of the action server supported operating systems. Integration packs that were released prior to Opalis Integration Server version 6.3 do not include support for Windows Server 2008 and 2008 R2 operating systems.

Important

A policy can only be run on an action server that is installed on an operating system supported for use with all of the objects in that policy.

For example, a policy includes a Custom Start object (a foundation object), a Get Collection Member object (from the System Center Configuration Manager Integration Pack), and a Create Message object (from the HP OpenView Operations Integration Pack). Because the policy contains an object from an integration pack that is not supported for use on Windows Server 2008, the action server that runs this policy must be installed on a Windows Server 2003 or Windows Server 2003 R2 operating system.

The following tables list the integration packs and their supported operating systems. "X" represents a supported operating system.
