Understanding Internet Information Services Management Pack Operations
This section describes the views, tasks, and various reports that are available through the Internet Information Services Management Pack.
Views
After you import the Internet Information Services Management Pack into Operations Manager, a number of new Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0–specific views will be available in the Operations Manager Operator Console. The following table describes these views.

Alerts |
Lists all active Alerts from computers that are running IIS 7.0. |
Computers |
Lists all computers that are running IIS 7.0. |
Computer Groups |
Lists all Computer Groups that are affected by IIS. |
Events |
Lists all Events that have been collected from computers that are running IIS 7.0. |
Health Indicators |
Lists performance information for specific Internet Information Services–related performance counters for computers that are running IIS 7.0. Three areas are covered: Session Statistics, System Resources, and Transport Errors and Timeouts. |
Performance |
Lists performance information for selected performance counters for computers that are running IIS 7.0. |
Service Level Exceptions |
Lists all active Alerts from computers that are running IIS 7.0 and that have exceeded the Service Level Agreement policy. |
State |
Lists all computers that are running IIS 7.0, and provides the status of IIS on each computer. |
Task Status |
Lists the status of all tasks that have been executed against computers running IIS 7.0. |
Tasks
After you import the Internet Information Services Management Pack, a number of new IIS–specific tasks will be available in the Operations Manager Operator Console. The following table describes these tasks.

Restart IIS |
Restarts the IIS service. |
Run IIS Service Discovery |
Performs a scan of all IIS Web sites and FTP sites. Detects new sites and changes to site properties. This information is used in IIS Management Pack reports. |
Reports
To use the reports that are included in the Internet Information Services Management Pack package, you must import them.
To import the Internet Information Services Reports file
In the MOM Administrator Console, right-click Management Packs, and then click Import/Export Management Pack.
The Import/Export Management Pack Wizard opens. Click Next.
Select the Import Management Packs option, and then click Next.
Type the path to the report file, or browse to the folder.
Click Import reports only, and then click Next.
Select the Internet Information Services report file.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
If you need to install additional report files, repeat steps 1 through 7 for each report file
After you have imported the Internet Information Services Management Pack into Operations Manager 2005, a number of new IIS–specific reports will be available in the Operations Manager Reporting Console, as listed in the following table.

Displays all IIS servers, including the operating system version, number of Web sites, and number of application pools. |
All IIS Server Application Pools |
Displays detailed information about the application pools of all servers running IIS 7.0. |
Application Pool Failure |
Displays detailed information about the status of IIS 7.0 application pools, allowing you to determine the greatest application pool failure type. |
Application Pool Status |
Displays the status of IIS 7.0 application pools across all IIS servers. This report only collects data for Windows Server 2008 servers running IIS 7.0 or later. |
Count of HTTP 400 Errors by Day |
Displays a count of HTTP 400 errors in the IIS log for each IIS server. |
Count of HTTP 500 Errors by Day |
Displays a count of HTTP 500 errors in the IIS log for each IIS server. |
Internet Information Services Details |
Displays detailed information about the services and extensions that are running on a specific IIS server. |
